Today we will make Pancakes without baking powder Here are the ingredients: 1/2 cup evaporated milk 1/2 cup all purpose flour 1 tablespoon white sugar 1 teaspoon salt, iodized 1 piece of egg Add the salt to the milk. Next, add the sugar. Add the egg. Mix the salt and sugar so these two will dissolve immediately. Dissolving the salt and sugar first will prevent the pancake from being grainy. Continue mixing until everything is dissolved. Add the mixture to the all-purpose flour. Continue mixing to incorporate all the ingredients. This is the right consistency of this pancake batter recipe. Transfer the mixture in a squeeze bottle. It is easy to cook a pancake when using a squeeze bottle. If you don’t have this at home, just use anything available like ladle or spoon. As long as it can scoop out the mixture. The entire mixture filled up the bottle. Heat the pan. Add small amount of cooking oil. Make sure to evenly distribute the oil. Coating the pan with oil will prevent the pancake from sticking. Squeeze the mixture into the pan. Notice the shape of the pancake is almost perfect. If you are using ladle, start at the middle. Then simply allow the mixture to spread. Once these holes start to appear, it means that the bottom side of the pancake starts to cook. As soon as more holes become visible, immediately flip the pancake before overcooking the other side. Never cook pancakes under high heat as it will immediately burn the outside part of the pancake. Slowly cook the pancake under low to medium heat. Continue cooking the remaining mixture. Here’s the finished product, Pancakes without baking powder. One, two, three, four, and five. I was able to cook 5 pieces of pancakes using the recipe. I will eat my pancakes with salted caramel sauce that I made at home. But I need to try it first without the sauce to see the difference. This is the close up view of the pancake. It looks like a crepe, but a bit thicker. I can taste the egg, but this pancake isn’t salty nor sweet. It is a perfect recipe if you prefer a savory or sweet pancake meal. Sometimes I eat my pancakes with egg or ham so neutral taste of pancake is better. On the other hand, I will try the pancake with small amount of sauce on top. Choose any kind of sauce you prefer. For sweeter version of the pancake,
