Dal Cooking Method | பருப்பு வேக வைக்கும் முறை | Cooking Tips | Gowri Samayalarai


Let’s see the proper method to cook dal for any dish For sambar usually preferred to take 3/4 parts of toor dhal & 1/4 part of moong dal Moong dal should be dry roasted for any recipe Both dals should be washed thoroughly & soaked together for 20 mins Ratio of water : dal=2:1 Add the soaked dal only after the water boils , as shown Add 1/4 spoon turmeric powder & 1/4 spoon castor oil Keep the lid open till the water starts to rise up as shown Keep a wooden spoon above as shown to prevent the water to come out Now close with a lid & allow for 3 whistles Dal has mashed & cooked well, now Now you can add more water & allow it to boil if to be used for making Paruppu (dal) Rasam Check my Rasam playlist for different rasam types Refer below for detailed English description Refer my Kitchen Tips playlist for more tips

Usually i add caster oil but i never added toordal and greengram dal together and i never roasted greengram dal.Thank you very much..We usually stir fry onion with caster oil and grind along with kulambu powder and coconut to prepare chicken gravy .While preparing we add sesame oil and put the masala and again add a dash of caster oil

  74. you should put salt before cooking the purp it will reduce the cooking time . And please don't put castor oil it will upset the stomach and it smells bad . And castor oil leaves it's bad smell in dal ( purp ) also
